Holiday Gift Ideas for Your Favorite Chameleon Lover
Pets have a way of taking over our lives. In fact, the majority of pet owners buy their pets holiday gifts. And with the season of giving upon us, you may be wondering what to get the chameleon owner in your life – after all, a gift for them does double duty as a gift for their pet!
If you know a chameleon owner, here are some creative holiday present ideas for you.
As we’ve previously mentioned on this blog, real plants are a healthy and natural way to provide the different levels and hiding spots your chameleon instinctively wants. If your favorite chameleon owner is still using artificial greenery in their setup, help them make the switch to using live plants. Potted ferns, aspidistra, pothos, ficus trees and hibiscus are all examples of plants that are easy to care for, and make a chameleon’s enclosure more beautiful, as well.
Food and Supplements
Just like humans, chameleons need to follow a balanced diet to stay healthy. Chameleons primarily eat live insects, but if you’re feeling a bit squeamish about putting a bow on a chirping box full of crickets, we understand. Consider slipping some calcium supplements into your gift recipient’s stocking, instead.
Chameleons need UVB lighting to form Vitamin D, which helps them absorb those calcium supplements we mentioned earlier. And, bonus: Proper lighting also helps keep live plants healthy. Any chameleon owner would be grateful to unwrap some replacement UVB bulbs for their lighting kit.
Chameleons need regular misting in their enclosures to maintain proper humidity levels, to keep their skin and eyes clean — and, most importantly, as their source of drinking water. If you know a chameleon owner who is having trouble remembering to mist by hand, consider surprising them with an automatic misting system to keep them and their “ani-pal” happy.
If the chameleon owner in your life is struggling with a cage that isn’t big enough, or otherwise doesn’t meet their needs, now is the perfect time to invest in a new cage. Remember, chameleons need plenty of height for climbing, so the ideal chameleon cage is taller than it is wide. Check out some of the cages we have available.
Finally, if you’ve read through this whole list and still aren’t quite sure what to get, gift cards are always the perfect fit. We offer e-gift cards in denominations from $25 to $500, and our expertise and love for chameleons are on the house!
This holiday season, opt for a chameleon-themed gift for a loved one whose pet is the apple of their eye. What could be better than making them and their pet happy?
