Nosy Be is an 123.56 sq mi large island located about 5 miles offshore the north western tip of Madagascar. Nosy Be means “big island” in the Malagasy language. Several smaller islands are located nearby, including Nosy Komba, Nosy Mitsio, Nosy Sakatia, and Nosy Tanikely. Nosy Be is the main hub of Madagascar’s tourism industry and has several large hotels, an international airport with charter flights arriving from Paris and Italy as well as daily domestic flights served by Air Madagascar and Madagasikara Airways.
The Nosy Be Panther Chameleon is responsible for the creation of Canvas Chameleons. It has been a childhood and now lifetime dream to work with these amazing blue chameleons.
In the wild, the Nosy Be panthers do not carry the typical bold blue look as we see in the captive community. A typical Nosy Be roaming the island will carry more of a green/yellow coloration over a solid blue. They may also have red spots on their face, body as well as their eyes. These colors tend to fade while in captivity and through selective breeding the solid blue Nosy Be’s have become one of everyone’s favorite locales.
